LATIN JAZZ SKETCHES: Effortless Euphoria
by on May 14, 2023 in Video

If you ask most musicians, they’ll tell you that no song is ever a finished product; it can always be revisited, revised, and reimagined – at the end of the day, every song is just a sketch that will evolve. With that in mind, I’ve decided to share more sketches – songs that are at the beginning of their evolution, ready to get into the world but with space to grow. I’m hoping that I can get a little feedback on these songs and push them along to a space where they might find a new life. I’m starting things out with a bit of Latin Jazz where I purposely tried to keep things uncomplicated, a task that I sometimes find difficult. I also wanted to explore the texture of just double bass and six-string electric bass without any overdubs. I generally feel that Latin Jazz often benefits from a thick texture and I wanted to explore how I could make things a little thinner. I also took this opportunity to work with chordal melodies on my six-string, something I’ve loved for a while. I hope you enjoy this sketch – I’d love your thoughts so I can help it grow into something beautiful!
